It opens with a very\nexpressive cello choir before moving to very famous music akin to a storm\nscene. After that is a famous tune played by the English Horn before getting to\nthe most famous part of the overture. That is the part that was used with great\nsuccess in the television show as the theme for The Lone Ranger.\n \nNext will be the Symphony no.\n25 in G minor\, K. 183 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. One of 2 Mozart\nsymphonies written in G minor\, this one is referred to as the “Little G Minor”. It is only\nlittle in comparison to his other G minor symphony\, No. 40. It is a highly\nenergetic piece that will delight individuals on many accounts. Mozart composed the symphony when he was only 17 years old!\n \nThe concert will close with Pictures\nat An Exhibition by Russian composer Modeste Mussorgsky. Mussorgsky\ncomposed Pictures in 1874 due to inspiration by and in honor of his friend\,\nRussian painter Viktor Hartmann\, who had died a year earlier. Mussorgsky wrote\nthe work as a piano solo. While that version is still performed\, it is in this\norchestra version that was orchestrated by Maurice Ravel that Mussorgsky’s work\nis undoubtedly best known. Ravel’s brilliant orchestration of Mussorgsky’s\ncreative\, expressive\, and powerful music will keep guests riveted with interest.\n \nThe concert will be a great kickoff to  a great season of\nmusic by the Houston Civic Symphony.\n \nThis free concert is at\n7:30 p.m. on Friday\, September 29\, 2023\, in the Morris Cultural Arts Center on\nthe campus of ϲͼ.
